the story
Most people call them washers, a necessary part for a sturdy connection.
In my family they’re called a RINADING and they’re lucky.
A ringading is in line with finding three heads up pennies in a row. It’s been debated who dubbed this circular fastener our good luck charm but it could truly be attributed to any of the resilient woman in my lineage.
My great grandmother Larean Bright who lived through the Great Depression with 13 siblings and had a crystal collection before it was cool, my Grammy who loves clovers and will never gift you a purse without a dollar in it but honestly — it was probably my mom. Raising two young kids in a city she didn’t know maybe it was just a way to entertain us; who could find the most. But to this day my brother and I still think of a ringading as the ultimate lucky charm.
We’ve all got a history of them — socks, hitting every green light, that random song you love playing on the radio.
Why not find a new one? :)
(p.s. I asked my mom and she said it was just because she liked metal)
